BATTERS, the European ecosystem for managing the life cycle of the battery industry
BATTERS aims to support your environmental initiatives and stimulate innovation. Our mission: to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable, connected and competitive industry.
Why BATTERS?
Faced with the challenges of energy transition, of industrial sovereignty and the evolution of european requirements, the battery industry needs to accelerate its transformation while controlling its environmental impact.
BATTERS supports stakeholders in the sector through its expertise in eco-design, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and criticality assessment, as well as through a collaborative platform dedicated to the environmental performance of batteries.
Our ambition is to create a more sustainable, more competitive and more connected, It's the perfect response to tomorrow's environmental and regulatory challenges.

BATTERS: what is it?
BATTERS is a ecosystem which brings together the tools, data and players required for the environmental transition of the battery industry.

Services
To support, train and develop the sector: consultancy, support in eco-design, conducting LCA studies and assessing criticality.

Sharing
Knowledge to connect players and strengthening cooperation in the battery industry.

The data
Reliable to understand, compare and improve environmental performance.

Digital tools
To act, design and accelerate the transition of the battery industry.
Together, they reflect the vision of a European battery industry that is more connected, more efficient and more sustainable.
The 3 pillars of BATTERS

Design
Encourage research and eco-design to imagine new solutions and accelerate industrial transformation in Europe.

Collaborate
Bring together stakeholders from the public, scientific and industrial sectors to create synergies and share knowledge on sustainability.

Structuring
Define a common framework and strengthen the consistency of approaches to build a harmonised and reliable sector focused on the circular economy.
Together, they embody the dynamism of a European ecosystem to support the environmental and industrial transition of the battery industry.

BATTERS ecosystem actions

BATTERS project phase 1 - Strengthening the circular economy in the emerging battery industry in Hauts-de-France
The first phase of the BATTERS project made it possible to establish a comprehensive overview of the battery sector in Europe and in the Hauts-de-France (HdF) region.
The study focused on the identification of material needs, production capacities, recycling scenarios and on carrying out a Territorial LCA and a territorial roadmap in HdF.
This foundational work forms the basis on which the BATTERS ecosystem is built today.
BATTERS database - Battery recycling
In response to the lack of LCA data on battery recycling processes, WeLOOP has developed the BATTERS database.
It centralises Life Cycle Inventories (LCI) dedicated to recycling process, to measuring the carbon footprint and ensure compliance with European regulations.

BATTERS project phase 2 - Strengthening collaboration in the battery industry in Hauts-de-France around the battery life cycle
BATTERS phase 2 extends the momentum initiated by the first phase of the project by developing a digital platform dedicated to life cycle assessment (LCA) and eco-design of batteries
It enables European players to measure, compare and improve their environmental performance, while preparing compliance with future regulatory requirements and Digital Product Passport (DPP).
